About Dr. Carter
Joshua Carter, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon at Midwest Center for Joint Replacement, with two offices located in Indianapolis and Bloomington, Indiana.
Dr. Carter completed his undergraduate degree with summa cum laude honors at the University of Kentucky (UK) with a perfect 4.0 GPA. He earned a full-ride to attend the UK College of Medicine, where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. During medical school, Dr. Carter fueled a personal passion by spending two months performing orthopedic care at a mission hospital in Kenya.
During his five-year orthopedic surgery residency training at the University of Vermont, Dr. Carter met Drs. Lackey and Berend, and new friendships began to grow. These relationships continued to flourish throughout his adult reconstruction fellowship, which he completed at the highly regarded OrthoCarolina Hip & Knee Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dr. Carter has been in practice in Indianapolis since completing his studies. He specializes in the direct anterior approach to total hip replacement surgery. He has been featured in AARP’s Disrupt Aging publication for his expertise.
When he’s out of his hospital scrubs, Dr. Carter enjoys woodworking, coffee roasting, and playing disc golf. He is active in his church and is richly blessed with his loving wife, Jessica, and four exuberant kids who still can’t outwrestle him.
