About Dr. Lackey
Wesley Lackey, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon and the co-founder of Midwest Center for Joint Replacement (MCJR), serving patients in Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Terre Haute, Indiana.
Born and raised in Evansville, Indiana, Dr. Lackey attended Vanderbilt University, where he earned a degree in violin performance and fulfilled his pre-medical requirements. He then attended Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. During his time in Indianapolis, Dr. Lackey met Dr. Berend through their church, and they continued their friendship through the remainder of his education.
After medical school, Dr. Lackey moved to South Carolina to complete his five-year orthopedic surgical residency with Prisma Health (formerly Greenville Hospital System). He then returned to Indianapolis and completed a hip and knee fellowship. Dr. Lackey and Dr. Berend have been in practice together ever since, and they co-founded MCJR.
Dr. Lackey has published multiple peer-reviewed articles and a few textbook chapters. He has taught surgical techniques and shared research data across the country. He has worked with engineers from multiple companies designing and improving implants and instrumentation for hip, knee, and partial knee replacements. Lackey scored in the 97th percentile of all graduating U.S. orthopedic chief residents on the written Board Exam.
Dr. Lackey has also traveled internationally with Operation Walk, a Christian medical mission organization performing free joint replacements around the world.
Outside the operating room, Dr. Lackey enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Gillian, their two children, and their spirited Westie, Parker.
