Biography
Wesley Lackey, MD is a board-certfied and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon and the co-founder of Midwest Center for Joint Replacement (MCJR), serving patients in Indianapolis and Bloomington, Indiana. Dr. Lackey specializes in total knee replacement, partial knee replacement, and total hip replacement surgery.
Dr. Lackey earned a degree in violin performance and fulfilled his pre-medical requirements at Vanderbilt University. He then attended Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. After medical school, Dr. Lackey completed his five-year orthopedic surgical residency with Prisma Health (formerly Greenville Hospital System) in Greenville, SC. He scored in the 97th percentile of all graduating U.S. orthopedic chief residents on the written Board Exam. Lackey then returned to Indianapolis to complete a hip and knee fellowship alongside Dr. Michael Berend. The two have been in practice together ever since. Lackey and Berend co-founded MCJR in 2015 in order to better serve patients with highly specialized and compassionate care.
Lackey has worked with engineers from multiple companies designing and improving joint implants and instrumentation for hip, knee, and partial knee replacements. He also remains involved in joint replacement research and education, teaching surgical techniques and shared research data across the country. He has published multiple peer-reviews articles and textbook chapters.
Dr. Lackey has also traveled internationally with Operation Walk, a Christian medical mission organization performing free joint replacements around the world. Outside the operating room, Dr. Lackey enjoys spending time with his lovely wife, Gillian, their two children, and their spirited Westie, Parker.
